Thread former
Thread former increases productivity
With the CoroTap 400, Sandvik Coromant has launched a thread former optimized for ISO-P steel. The tool was designed for the automotive industry.
The increased number of studs and shorter thread length allow the torque on the machine tool spindle to be reduced and higher cutting speeds to be achieved. This increases process reliability, results in fewer machine downtimes and reduces the costs per bore. Furthermore, the tool life has been improved. The tool is manufactured with a new substrate and new coating and has a geometry that reduces the force required to machine a steel component by up to 30 percent. The thread former was designed for machining steels up to 330 HB. It is suitable for machining automotive components such as connecting rods, wheel hubs, crankshafts, axles, gear wheels and gearboxes.
