Spindles for micromachining

Andrea Gillhuber,

Spindle series completely revised

With the UHC 120-75000/10, GMN is presenting a newly revised version of the UHC spindle series for micro-machining for the first time. This is based on the high-speed spindles of the HCS series. The modified design ensures improved vibration behavior even at very high speeds, which increases the surface quality of the workpiece and the service life of the spindle.

The length and weight have also been reduced, which has improved the dynamics and machining accuracy. The spindle with a sleeve diameter of 120 mm achieves an output of up to 13.5 kW at a speed of 75,000 rpm.

GMN will be exhibiting the spindle at the AMB in Stuttgart. It is available with a range of variants and options similar to the HCS series. These include a high-pressure rotary feed-through, which allows the coolant to be fed directly through the spindle shaft. It can be used at pressures of up to 80 bar.
