Reamers
Four cutting edges reduce costs
For Mapal, the development of the HPR400 reamers focused on increasing cost-effectiveness through efficient reconditioning.
The multi-bladed tools are highly cost-effective thanks to fast application data and easy on-site blade changes by the customer. This is possible thanks to the high-precision insert seats. This completely eliminates the logistics costs for transportation to the manufacturer, and circulation stock and reconditioning costs are kept to a low level.
In order to increase efficiency when machining large diameters, the inserts of the newly developed HPR400 plus no longer have a single cutting edge, but instead have four cutting edges. The cutting material is therefore optimally utilized. According to the company, the four-edged indexable inserts are manufactured so precisely that the inserts can still be easily turned or changed on site by customer employees. The stock of inserts can therefore be reduced, the reconditioning costs and therefore the cost-per-part are further reduced. cs
