New geometry for thread turning
Horn is expanding the Mini 108 system with a new geometry for thread turning. It is suitable for turning metric ISO internal threads in partial and full profiles. The chip form geometry enables short chips even with difficult-to-machine and long-chipping materials.
The new geometry of the System Mini 108 for thread turning reduces the risk of chip build-up, prevents the chips from wrapping around the tool carrier and thus increases process reliability. Furthermore, the chip breakage facilitates chip handling. The system is suitable for metric internal threads from diameter M10 in pitches from 0.5 to 1.25 mm. The cutting insert is available in partial and full profile versions. Standard turning holders from the Mini 108 system are suitable as tool holders.
The face-bolted inserts of the Mini type are among Horn's core products. The tool system is suitable for turning and milling applications. The precision tools have proven particularly effective for internal boring and internal grooving. With the low-vibration carbide tool holders, the inserts produce good surfaces even with longer overhangs and offer a high level of process reliability. The Mini-System's broad portfolio offers inserts in various sizes for different internal diameters, as well as different geometries and substrates and CBN or diamond tipping.
