3- and 5-axis machining centers in gantry design

Hermle is expanding its Performance Line series with three new machine models. The C 650 3- and 5-axis machining centers have a modified gantry design and a mineral cast machine bed.

The centers are equipped with a Heidenhain TNC 640 control as standard. In the 3-axis version, the integrated rigid clamping table can accommodate workpieces measuring 1,050 millimetres by 900 millimetres by 600 millimetres and weighing a maximum of 3,000 kilograms. This makes the machining center particularly suitable for tool and mould making.

The 5-axis version was designed for precision machining. Workpieces with a maximum weight of 1,500 kilograms, a diameter of 900 millimetres and a thickness of 600 millimetres can be clamped on its swivel rotary table. The travel in the stainless steel-clad work area is 1,050 millimetres by 900 millimetres by 600 millimetres with a jaw width of 775 millimetres and a door opening of 1,050 millimetres. Crane loading is therefore possible. The C 650 has an integrated tool magazine for 42 tools and can be optionally equipped with two additional magazines with 50 or 88 tool slots. The control panel with 19-inch TFT color touchscreen can be swiveled to the tool loading point so that the operator can enter the tool data directly into the tool table of the control system.

Hermle will be on site with its machining centers at Intec, which takes place in Leipzig from February 5 to 8, 2019.
