Tool management in production

The modular Tool Director software with TCI technology (Tool Cooperation Interface) from Coscom is a tool management database for the seamless CAD/CAM and simulation process. Embedded in the shopfloor IT, continuous data processes are realized from NC programming to tool presetting and to the CNC machine tool.

Existing systems such as ERP and PLM as well as warehouse and logistics systems are taken into account in the data process. Complete tools for turning and milling are assembled on the basis of tool component management. The resulting 3D tool graphics can be used in various CAD/CAM and simulation systems, for example in Siemens NX, HyperMill (OpenMind), Topsolid CAM (Missler), Esprit CAM (DP Technologies) or Vericut (CG-Tech). The modular software solution also provides support in the areas of setup optimization, availability assurance and tool cost reduction. The tool data for tool measurement becomes transparent through direct communication with the presetting devices, the control of the specific tool presetting requirements and the central storage of empirical values. The warehouse module can be used to map tool movements, usage frequencies and inventory monitoring.
