5-axis machining
For tool, fixture and mold making
The South Korean machine tool manufacturer, Hwacheon, is presenting its new D2-5AX 5-axis machining center for the first time in Europe.
The compact and robust machining center is primarily designed for use in workshops, training and laboratories as well as in tool, fixture and mould making. A ten-ton machine bed ensures high stability and robust continuous operation. Thanks to the use of high-quality components and spindles with oil-air lubrication specially manufactured in-house, as well as a high drive power with acceleration values of 0.7 G, the manufacturer can guarantee high accuracy and precision during machining. As standard, the new machining center is equipped with a 37 kW spindle with 12,000 rpm and BBT-40 mounting. Spindles with 20,000 or 24,000 rpm and a high-torque spindle with 14,000 rpm for HPC milling applications are optionally available for tool and mold making.
Four of the five axes can be controlled simultaneously as standard. Optionally, the fifth axis can also be designed for simultaneous work. The gantry-style machining center is equipped with a 600 mm rotary table that offers an ergonomic working height of 950 mm. Adaptive feed adjustment, overload control in the event of tool breakage and collision as well as compensation for axis offset using a calibration ball and measuring probe to increase productivity are also part of the basic equipment.
The large windows fitted with safety glass allow optimum process monitoring. Temperature sensors on the spindle and machine bed measure and compensate for thermal influences for high precision. The ejector for the chip conveyor can be positioned either to the left of the machine or behind it. A special chip conveyor for aluminum and other light metals is available as an option. This is equipped with grid hinges through which the cooling lubricant adhering to the chips drips off and returns to the cooling circuit.
