Hebofix at Audi
Easily fixed and reusable
In the body shop at Audi, robots perform automated tasks, often standing on robot consoles along which the various supply and control cables are routed. Audi uses the Hebofix hook-and-loop tape solution from Hebotec to attach cables.
Before Hebofix was used, individual cables were attached to the robot consoles in Audi's plant and fixture construction using metal clamps on C-rails. This type of installation proved to be time-consuming and impractical: This was because the metal clamps always had to be selected to match the cable diameter. A separate metal clamp was required for each cable. In addition, the length of the C-rail had to be adapted to the number of cables. This meant that a different number of fixing holes had to be drilled on the robot brackets. With the Hebofix system, however, which includes hook-and-loop tape bases and endless hook-and-loop tape, cables can be bundled and fixed quickly and easily. The Velcro bases can be mounted directly on the robot console using a fastening screw. Additional supply lines can be inserted quickly and easily at a later date without the need for additional material.
Audi's automation technology production planning and plant and fixture construction departments have also set themselves the goal of a simple, standardized and flexible fastening method. The decision was therefore made to approve the Hebofix hook and loop tape solution from the manufacturer Hebotec for this application. This solution has already been implemented in various body construction projects at Audi.
The Hebofix hook and loop base is available in different versions: as described for direct mounting, with a clamping foot for aluminum profiles or with a mounting adapter for C-rails. Once the base has been attached, the back-to-back hook and loop tape can be cut to the required length and attached without tools, so that it is automatically fixed in the direction of pull. The hook and loop tape can be replaced and reused. As the loop and hook are arranged on opposite sides, the hook and loop surface is as large as possible and provides a stable hold. The tape and matching hook and loop base are available in various widths from 7.5 to 30 millimetres for clamping ranges from four to 100 millimetres. Bundles of cables, wires and hoses of all kinds can be reassembled or extended again and again. Even sensitive cables such as network cables, sensor cables or fiber optic cables can be securely fastened without the risk of damage. as
