Combined rotary union
Electricity and compressed air without the mess
Afag is expanding the equipment of its CR rotary module series with a combined centric rotary feed-through for compressed air and electrical signals.
With the CR series, Afag has a range of compact rotary modules in its portfolio. The handling specialist has now expanded the CR 16-D and CR 20-D module types to include a combined compressed air and electrical feed-through. This allows users to quickly supply tools attached to the flange with compressed air and power. The integrated pneumatic feed-throughs enable a high air flow, while gold-plated slip ring contacts supply the attachments with power. The feed-through unit on the connection side can be rotated through 90 degrees. This does not restrict the screw-through capability of the module.
Grippers and attachment systems can be driven via the rotating union and swiveled and rotated unhindered without pressure hoses or cables wrapping around the axis, protecting the lines from damage and keeping the components ready for use for longer. Users can use the rotating union with up to six electrical and up to four pneumatic lines. The electrical connections are designed for signals with a current of one ampere at 24 volts, while the M5 connections for the pneumatic lines allow pressures of up to six bar. The flange hole patterns of all CR-D types are identical to the rotary modules of the CR series. Older models can therefore be easily replaced.
All CR-D types allow rotation angles of up to 180 degrees. The minimum swivel time at 180 degrees is between 0.27 (CR 16-D) and 0.35 seconds (CR 20-D). The CR 16-D weighs 1,000 grams, the CR 20-D 1,900 grams. For greater flexibility, both product variants are also available with one or two intermediate stops (CR 16-ZA-D and CR 20-ZA-D). as
