Digital transformation of sheet metal processing

Lantek cooperates with Belgian laser manufacturer Balliu

Lantek, a specialist in digital transformation for the metal industry, is collaborating with Balliu, a Belgian manufacturer of laser cutting systems for sheet metal and tubes. The aim is to offer solutions for management and process digitalization (Industry 4.0), to support customers in their digital transformation and to develop them technologically in the direction of advanced manufacturing.

Lantek's software will enable customers of the Belgian manufacturer of laser cutting systems, Balliu, to achieve digital transformation in the future.

The metal industry is undergoing a profound transformation that is forcing companies to connect machines, processes and systems worldwide using digital technologies. A high level of connectivity and integration provides a large amount of data and enables them to identify production needs in real time, anticipate possible faults and carry out more efficient maintenance. The tangible benefits of connecting factories include reducing costs and increasing productivity and efficiency.

"Despite the fact that access to technology has been democratized and the costs are not so high, the rapid changes we are experiencing require this digital transition to be carried out in collaboration with those companies that have the necessary knowledge to develop and implement the appropriate technology. In this sense, Lantek is a trusted partner for its customers, supporting them in their digital transformation," says Francisco Pérez, Director of OEM Sales at Lantek.

The company's mission is to promote and support the digital transformation of companies in the sector, accompanying them in this transition and adapting to the different stages of their digital maturity. The specific and advanced manufacturing solutions developed are exclusive to the metal sector. "The digital transformation of our customers is the key challenge we will be facing here at Lantek in the coming years. We are at the beginning of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which will change the way we manufacture. Our commitment to growing and supporting our customers in the digitalization process has led us to invest an additional 1.6 million euros in R&D and in our implementation and project development teams in 2017," explains Alberto Martínez, CEO of Lantek.

"We are very pleased to be working with a company that has such great digital skills. Thanks to Lantek's experience, our customers can benefit from their know-how and move faster and more precisely towards Industry 4.0," says Lieven Vervaeke, Managing Director of Balliu. kp
