Further ELM module variants

Weidmüller has developed the Max-Guard ELM-18 electronic load monitoring module (ELM) for particularly demanding loads in the context of industrial 24 V DC power supplies. With the option of load protection up to 18 amps, it is one of the most powerful modules on the market. It boasts a space-saving design and an operating temperature of up to plus 70 degrees Celsius. Thanks to a version with Atex certification and a protective coating, the module is suitable for applications with the highest demands, for example in the process industry.

Electronic load monitoring

Various applications such as control outputs, valves and lamps need to be protected by a group switch. The new module is the right solution for such challenging cases. With an adjustable tripping current of up to 18 amps, it is also suitable for large loads such as DC motors.

The ELM-1 LIM CL2 EX variant is used to protect small loads with high input capacitances such as sensors. Load protection is also provided for cable cross-sections of less than 0.25 square millimetres. Both modules are approved for overcurrent protection in accordance with the UL 2367 semiconductor standard and can be used as a group fuse for the simultaneous protection of several sensors.

The Max-Guard electronic system combines load monitoring and potential distribution in a single, space-saving component. This results in space savings of up to 50 percent on the mounting rail. The closed, modular housing concept enables a wide range of installation positions.

Configuration of the load monitoring modules

In the Weidmüller Configurator, a client for digital engineering, customers can assemble their mounting rail from all Weidmüller components according to their individual requirements themselves or with the help of their regional sales contact. This opens up new ways of assembly for users - from paperless production to automated manufacturing. The configurator provides all the necessary engineering data.
