The aim of the expansion is to bring the development and production of systems for industrial connectivity and automation technology as well as for IIoT closer to the US market.

"Weidmüller's expansion in Richmond underscores our commitment to the U.S. and supports our goal of bringing development and manufacturing even closer to our partners and customers there. Richmond has been home to Weidmüller for nearly 50 years and has proven to be an excellent location. We thank the Governor of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and Chesterfield County for their continued support," says Christian Gläsel, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Digitalization, innovative connection and installation technology and smart automation systems are also driving the transformation of industrial production, mobility and energy systems in the USA. The rapid growth in renewable energies and increasing demands for energy efficiency in particular require new concepts.

The climate-friendly new building will be equipped with solar cells designed for an annual output of 392,000 kilowatt hours. Highly efficient air conditioning systems, recycled materials and charging stations for electric vehicles produced in-house will further contribute to the sustainability of the building concept.

Local development and production

"We are looking forward to further expanding our presence in the USA and being even closer to our customers in North America. Local development and "Made in USA" production will allow us to better respond to market needs and scale faster. In this respect, the new building plays an important role for the future of Weidmüller and strengthens the cooperation with our American partners, distributors and customers," summarizes Volker Bibelhausen, Chief Technology Officer and Spokesman of the Executive Board of Weidmüller.
