Profinet cable
Assembly time significantly reduced
Igus offers a new Chainflex Profinet cable for the fast assembly of cables in the field. With FastConnect technology, the assembly time can be reduced by 46 percent.
Profinet is the world's most widely used industrial Ethernet communication system for industry. Thanks to Profinet technology, even large amounts of data can be transmitted at up to 100 Mbit/s based on the Ethernet protocol. Profinet cables are often used in combination with an RJ45 connector in machine tools, packaging technology or in the handling sector.
While many machine and system operators already use pre-assembled, ready-to-connect readychain energy chain systems, users in the field require cables from the reel that they adapt to length and assemble themselves. This may be the case, for example, if the cable has to be fed through a cable gland into the control cabinet. In this case, only the cable itself fits through, but not the plug. To connect the connector to the cable quickly, Igus has developed FastConnect technology for its Chainflex Profinet cables. It ensures that the new CF898.061.FC can be stripped and fitted with a connector in just a few simple steps.
Precise and secure plug connections
The cable, a plug and a stripping tool are all the electrician needs to assemble the cable. The inner sheath, shield and outer sheath are designed so that the user only has to adjust the tool once, then set the cable down, insert the plug and close it. The entire process saves 46 percent time compared to the conventional stripping of a classic cable with pliers and a knife. "With the new Profinet cable, we can offer users a highly flexible cable solution that is quick to assemble and at the same time has a long service life in moving applications," says Andreas Muckes, Head of Product Management Chainflex cables at Igus.
Like all products, the CF898.061.FC is also tested in our in-house 3,800 test laboratory. "Real tests in real applications are important to us, as this is the only way we can reliably prove and promise our chainflex service life guarantee of up to 36 months," says Muckes. The current series of tests in the e-chain are still ongoing and the Profinet cable has already successfully exceeded the 7.8 million strokes mark.
