Lapp has increased the number of apprenticeships starting this year. At the beginning of September, 27 young men and women started their careers, six more than in the previous year.

"Right now, we have to look ahead and assume social responsibility towards the younger generation. We must do everything we can to ensure that young people do not become a generation of losers. Moreover, for us as a medium-sized family business, training is an important instrument for securing the next generation," emphasizes CEO Matthias Lapp.

Eleven training paths will be offered at the Stuttgart site from 9/2020: Dual training as an IT specialist (m/f/d) for application development, specialist (m/f/d) for warehouse logistics, industrial clerk (m/f/d), wholesale and foreign trade management clerk (m/f/d) with a focus on wholesale, machine and plant operator (m/f/d) with a focus on metal and plastics technology and mechatronics technician (m/f/d). Lapp also offers dual courses of study, such as business administration service management with a focus on logistics and supply chain management, business administration industry, industrial engineering with a focus on electrical engineering and business informatics with a focus on application management. Among the 27 new trainees are three refugees who are learning the profession of machine and plant operator (m/f/d) and warehouse logistics specialist (m/f/d) at Lapp.

The training starts with an introductory training week. "Due to coronavirus, however, we don't yet know whether we will be able to offer the same variety in this training year as in previous years. However, we will do everything we can to ensure that the quality of training does not suffer, even in difficult times. After all, we want to inspire young people for their future careers," says Anne Voigt, Head of Training at Lapp.

This is why digital and mobile working is increasingly coming into focus. Coupled with the concept of blended learning - which is increasingly being used at vocational colleges and universities due to the current situation - knowledge transfer and acquisition can be made more flexible for trainees.

Lapp received 1,100 applications as part of the application process for the start of training. A total of 70 young people are currently being trained. In recent years, over 90 percent of trainees have been taken on. as
