New task for Lucius Amelung
Physik Instrumente founds PI Innovation
Lucius Amelung, founder of PI Micos in Eschbach near Freiburg, is taking on new responsibilities within the PI Group and was appointed Managing Director of the new PI Innovation on July 1, 2018.
With the founding of the new company, PI is continuing to focus on progress and growth, it said. The aim of PI Innovation is to identify market trends and customer needs earlier in the age of Industry 4.0 and digitalization and to translate this knowledge into innovative product and technology developments.
After 28 years of successful management, Lucius Amelung has handed over the management of PI Micos to Dr. Peter Schittenhelm. Dr. Schittenhelm now performs this function in addition to his responsibilities as Managing Director Operations (COO) of the PI Group. In addition to Lucius Amelung, Markus Spanner, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the PI Group, will also join the management of PI Innovation.
As part of this change in management, Physik Instrumente has also acquired the remaining shares in PI Micos, making the company a wholly owned subsidiary. Within the PI Group, PI Micos will be strengthened and further expanded as a competence center for motorized positioning axes. The aim is to exploit the growth potential offered by the industry's increased demands for precision automation. as
