After the METAV 2020, which was originally scheduled to take place from 10 to 13 March this year, had to be postponed due to the corona epidemic, it was all the more important for the organizers to find an alternative date quickly so that exhibitors could plan with certainty. "This was not so easy, because the entire trade fair calendar had to be reorganized due to the many trade fair cancellations and postponements," explained Wilfried Schäfer, Managing Director of METAV organizer VDW (German Machine Tool Builders' Association).

Optimistically, it can be assumed that the corona problem will be solved by the beginning of 2021. There are also reasonable expectations that the economy will pick up again at the beginning of next year. The mechanical engineering sector, for example, as one of the most important customer industries for the machine tool industry, is assuming a strong recovery in demand once the coronavirus crisis has been overcome. "All contracts with the approximately 460 METAV exhibitors will remain valid for the new date," confirmed VDW Executive Director Schäfer. dsc
