Topping-out ceremony at the new branch in Hamburg

Item will soon be moving into a new building in the north-east of Hamburg. The family-owned company is headquartered in Solingen, with other locations throughout Germany. As the previous premises in Siek near Hamburg are now at full capacity and can no longer be expanded, Item decided to build a new building in Ahrensburg. More than 30 new jobs will be created there. The move is planned for mid-2024.

Topping-out ceremony in Ahrensburg

"The new building in Ahrensburg is geared towards a significant increase in capacity, which will enable us to grow further in northern Germany and thus ensure customer proximity and availability in the future," says branch manager Frank Hansen. "In addition, Ahrensburg is ideally accessible thanks to the nearby highway connection and public transport."

With the new branch, Item is setting the tone in terms of innovation and building technology. A modern building with photovoltaic systems, heat pumps and an extensive e-charging infrastructure is being built on a 16,000 square meter site. The new branch not only offers innovative and technical advantages: Delivery times for retail and major customers will be significantly reduced. The aim is to expand production capacity and meet customer demand even better. The new location will serve the federal states of Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Bremen, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and partly Lower Saxony. Item concentrates on the automotive, medical technology, aviation, automotive manufacturers, mechanical engineering and shipping sectors.
