SPS 2020 is canceled

The organizer Mesago Messe Frankfurt has canceled SPS 2020 as a live event due to the current corona situation. The trade fair will now take place as a virtual format.

SPS 2020 will not take place as planned in November in the halls of Nuremberg Messe. Martin Roschkowski, President Mesago Messe Frankfurt: "We very much regret having to cancel this year's SPS 2020 in Nuremberg. At the beginning of the summer, the signs looked very good and we firmly assumed that the trade fair would take place in Nuremberg in November. Our protection and hygiene concept planned at the time was well received and further developed with many of those involved in the trade fair. This showed us once again how well the SPS community works together and we would like to express our sincere thanks for this."

Major concerns of those involved
The main reasons for canceling the event include the major concerns expressed by those involved in many discussions regarding the significantly changed framework conditions and concerns about employees. The prescribed strict distancing and hygiene rules as well as travel restrictions and an uncertain economic situation caused by the pandemic suggest that the trade fair cannot be held in the usual quality. "The SPS is characterized by intensive technical discussions and the exchange between exhibitors and visitors. Unfortunately, we currently see hardly any possibility of making this possible on site in the usual way," summarizes Sylke Schulz-Metzner, Vice President SPS.

SPS Connect - the virtual SPS
However, automation technology does not have to do without the industry get-together altogether: Even before the live trade fair was canceled, Mesago announced that there would be an additional virtual offering. This is now in the final stages of implementation and offers exhibitors and visitors the opportunity to exchange information digitally on the latest developments and trends in automation technology.

Like the planned physical trade fair, the virtual platform SPS Connect will start at the end of November, on 24.11.2020.
