Software for geared motors
Geared motor integrated into the process control system
Bauer Gear Motor has expanded its product portfolio with the development of TorqueControl4.0 to integrate the geared motor into the process control technology and thus provide additional functionality. Until now, most process data on electric motors has come from frequency inverters. However, their information content is limited and they only offer a few additional functions. With the market launch of TorqueControl4.0 for fast torque measurement to protect the drivetrain from overload and to optimize energy consumption through adaptive load control, the manufacturer is aiming for a significant improvement. This development offers a soft start function and an overload clutch as well as the option of collecting operating data and forwarding it for monitoring. The integrated electronics are housed as a compact solution in a protected environment in the terminal box of the electric motor.
TorqueControl4.0 performs fast and accurate measurements of both current and voltage to assess, display and report the torque curve of a process. The parameters can be set so that the drive can be switched off in the event of an overload, thus preventing damage to the drivetrain. At the same time, the electronics can limit the starting current as with a conventional soft start. sw
