Linear system for UR robots

Mara Hofacker,

More reach thanks to linear axes

Rollon offers linear axes that extend the reach of Universal Robots robots as they are specially tailored to the UR system. The linear axes are part of the Dahl Linear Move all-in-one package.

Rollon has set automation in motion with its 7th axis concept. Now Dahl Automation and linear technology specialist Rollon are getting the popular lightweight robots from Universal Robots moving with a simple plug-and-play solution. The UR+-certified linear axes from the Robot (closed) and R-Smart (open) series are characterized by high system rigidity, load capacity, torque control, travel speed and positioning accuracy and are matched to the various Universal Robots models in terms of size and performance.

The Rollon axes are part of the "Dahl Linear Move" all-in-one package - the result of the cooperation between Rollon and Dahl Automation - consisting of a configurable linear axis including motor, gearbox, limit switch and mounting kit, an electronic control cabinet and the "URCap" software component. According to the company, commissioning and operation are completed with the steps of setting up and connecting. Time-consuming axis design, adaptation and programming processes are no longer necessary. The intuitive UR interface "URCap" guides the user step-by-step through the installation; no special programming knowledge is required. Users can also make changes to the production layout themselves at any time. The plug-and-play solution is compatible with all e-Series UR models (Polyscope version 5.1 or higher).

Robust structure made of aluminum profile

The UR+-certified linear axes from Rollon have a robust structure made from an extruded, anodized aluminium profile with a square cross-section. The drive force is transmitted by a steel-reinforced polyurethane toothed belt. The UR robot travels on two parallel profile rail guides with a total of four carriages, which support all loads and torques that occur. The ball-guided systems are designed to ensure a high load capacity and load-bearing capacity on the one hand and low-maintenance operation and low noise levels on the other.

Whether handling, palletizing, machine loading, intralogistics or a combination of workstations: Rollon axes can be tailored precisely to the respective application: By extending the basic version (1 m) in 100 mm increments, users can achieve the reach they need for their application. Dynamics are ensured by speeds of up to 4 m/s or 5 m/s and accelerations of up to 50 m/s2, with a repeat accuracy of ±0.05 mm.
