High transmission ratios in a small installation space
Gear specialist Framo Morat presents the new SpeeroX gear set, in which the gear teeth move to the face side. This results in a reduction of the installation space.
SpeeroX enables high gear ratios in just one gear stage and is quiet and efficient at the same time. An electric motor delivers high speeds with comparably low torque. In order to move loads, gearboxes are used that convert the rotary motion provided by the electric motor into a slower but more powerful movement. The classics for high-ratio gearboxes are multi-stage spur and planetary gear sets or bevel and worm gear sets if an angular arrangement is required. Combinations of these variants are often used.
Multistage spur gear and planetary gear sets consist of many components. Bevel gear sets are noisy and require at least one preliminary stage. Worm gear sets lose performance and service life due to friction. This is where the high-ratio SpeeroX gear set comes into play. The installation space is reduced by shifting the gear teeth to the face side. The result is gearing with a spiral character, which is driven by a modified worm. This results in kinematically favorable conditions that reduce the sliding components and thus the friction. Nevertheless, the gearing remains quiet thanks to the high overlap and the sliding engagement. A low-wear steel-steel pairing increases the power density and service life. If only one direction of rotation is required, particularly high performance can be achieved thanks to the gearing geometry of SpeeroX.
