Thanks to an agile approach in which sales, development and product management work closely together, Kendrion finds the right brake solution in the shortest possible time.

The company draws on a broad modular product portfolio so that the right brake does not have to be developed from scratch and process times are significantly reduced before series production starts. The new processes have already proven themselves in several projects in which, for example, spring-applied brakes from the Servo Slim Line series were adapted flexibly and quickly to the requirements of cobots or other applications.

In the robotics market in particular, especially in the field of collaborative robots, manufacturers are under increasing time pressure. Because fast response times are difficult to reconcile with rigid processes, Kendrion has responded. The new "front end" guarantees that all relevant areas of the company are involved in customer-specific projects from the outset. This enables Kendrion to act even faster - and the modular system, which allows brakes to be assembled for specific applications, also helps.

The starting point for previous customer-specific solutions was the servo slim-line brakes that Kendrion developed for cobots and lightweight robots - but they are now also used by robotics OEMs. Flat and lightweight, the single-disc brakes enable compact yet safe designs for robots with payloads between 3 and 20 kg. Due to the large internal diameter, the cobot's cables can be routed through the brake, making them ideal for hollow shaft applications. The series is now available in six sizes, allowing numerous customer-specific adaptations - for example with regard to the torque, the voltage rating of the coil, the mounting of the motor shaft and the fastening of the brake in the respective application.
