EMO 2019

Wittenstein comes with galaxy and cynapse

The Galaxie drive system will be the focus of Wittenstein's trade fair appearance at EMO 2019 in Hanover. Another highlight is the smart gearbox with "cynapse" functionality - with integrated sensors and IO-Link connectivity.

Galaxie has been scientifically proven as a superior gearbox type in terms of design and is recognized in important industries such as high-performance machine tool manufacturing. In relation to the market standard, it offers top performance in all key technical disciplines - in terms of backlash, synchronization and rigidity as well as torque density and overload capacity.

This is due to the newly conceived gear design with dynamized individual teeth instead of a rigid gear ring, a tangential and, under load, full-surface hydrodynamic contact during tooth engagement and the new type of bearing with segmented outer ring.

In most cases, Galaxie is therefore more than just a component: it is the nucleus of innovative machine concepts and machine generations that are developed around the performance features of Galaxie. Various sizes and designs will be on show at EMO, including the compact Galaxie D in size 085 for use in smaller milling heads and handling axes with special requirements in terms of torsional rigidity and freedom from backlash, and the ultra-flat Galaxie DF in sizes 110 and 135.

Smart gearboxes with "cynapse"
Since their first presentation at the Hannover Messe 2019, the smart gearboxes with "cynapse" functionality have been generating a great deal of interest. This includes a fully integrated sensor module, data output via IO-Link with the resulting I4.0 connectivity and logic functions for monitoring actual and threshold values of selectable parameters.

Gearboxes with "cynapse" are thus able to record and store different influencing variables from the process and the operating environment that affect the gearbox during operation and communicate them to automation systems and all common IIoT platforms. Important for design engineers: gearboxes with "cynapse" do not differ externally from the existing series, meaning that drive solutions that have already been designed can remain in place.

Servo actuators from the modular system
With Premo, Wittenstein presents a fully scalable servo actuator platform: servo motors with up to 92 percent efficiency and torsionally stiff precision gearboxes with up to 97 percent efficiency can be flexibly configured to create individual servo actuators. Depending on the requirements of the machine, the Premo XP Line, TP Line and SP Line are available in different performance classes to suit the application.

Precision for axes in machining and manufacturing systems, coupled with maximum productivity in a small installation space - this is what Wittenstein's linear systems offer. Gearbox, pinion, rack and lubrication system are coordinated components that ensure optimum performance of the overall solution. Three performance classes matched in terms of smooth running, positioning accuracy and feed force ensure technically and economically efficient design for different requirements. as
