Compact drives with snake
In Nuremberg, Maxon is presenting a powerful compact drive, new impetus in medical technology and aerospace - and a robot snake.
Among other things, Maxon is presenting a modular compact drive at the SPS that has been specially developed for applications in industrial and logistics automation. The IDX drive combines a powerful, brushless EC-i motor and an EPOS4 positioning controller in a small space - and can be supplemented with a planetary gearbox if required. This drive has a high level of efficiency, maintenance-free components and an industrial housing with an IP 65-protected design. It also has configurable digital and analog inputs and outputs. Intuitive software is used for simple commissioning and integration into master systems.
Solution for tight spaces
Speaking of positioning control: The EPOS4 from Maxon is now also available in a micro version. According to the manufacturer, the main advantages of this motion controller are its compact design and attractive price. This makes the EPOS4 Micro 24/5 an interesting solution for robotics applications with limited space and cost-sensitive multi-axis applications.
There will also be an interesting animal to see at the Maxon stand. Kamilo Melo, an expert in bio-robotics, has created a robotic snake especially for Maxon that uses 16 DC motors and specific software to move like its natural counterparts. as
