Rollon and Nadella at automatica 2023

Marie Saverino,

Combination of linear movements for automation concepts

A combination of linear movements allows automation concepts to be implemented reliably, flexibly and economically. Rollon and Nadella will be demonstrating what this looks like in practice at automatica 2023 in Munich from June 27 to 30.

At automatica 2023, the two Timken Group companies Rollon and Nadella will be presenting their extensive solution expertise in the field of industrial motion technology together for the first time, showcasing their comprehensive portfolio for automated processes under the motto "Stronger. Together", they will present their extensive portfolio for automated processes.

The addition of Nadella to the Rollon and Timken family will round out and expand Rollon's linear motion product portfolio. Both companies manufacture products for highly complementary end market sectors such as robotics, automation, logistics, medical, food and beverage and packaging, and all customers will benefit from the expanded product and service offering and the strength of the combined companies.

Automation with multi-axis systems

Visitors to the trade fair can find out about the advantages of linear axes and multi-axis solutions for automation, for example. They are the solution of choice, especially for higher requirements in terms of dynamics, reach, load capacity and/or installation space. Whether standard product or customized solution: thanks to its in-depth technical expertise and efficient production, the company is able to manufacture Cartesian systems quickly and offer a complete service based on customer requirements. To illustrate this, a gantry system is being set up in Munich. Linear axes form the basis for the construction of highly efficient multi-axis systems. With the new telescopic linear axis system TLS, these can now be integrated even better in confined installation situations. The 2- and 3-stage systems with combined rack and pinion and toothed belt drive enable large strokes of up to 3,000 mm, even with limited ceiling height (vertical installation) or limited lateral installation space (horizontal installation), thus significantly expanding the automation spectrum. High loads of up to 450 kg are possible.

Traversing axes for robots and cobots

When it comes to traversing axes for robots, the solutions from Rollon and Nadella are ideal. The transfer units move heavy loads over long distances with high dynamics and are absolutely reliable. The company has developed the Cobot Transfer Unit (CTU) especially for the lightweight robots from Universal Robots. The complete package consists of a linear axis, controller and software and was specially designed to work with the popular cobots from Denmark. The simple plug-and-play solution for fast UR integration is UR+-certified, individually configurable and easy to operate. Various drive and guidance systems as well as protective devices are available for industrial robots, covering almost all requirements and environmental conditions - from very dynamic and flexible to particularly clean and hygienic to extremely robust. Systems with rollers provide optimum protection against dirt and external influences and achieve outstanding results in terms of greater efficiency, reliability of supply, improved availability and maximum precision.

Linear technology and digitization

With the intelligent iAXNR oval system, the company also has an innovative solution in its trade fair portfolio that combines linear technology with sensors for monitoring vibration and temperature. This data is processed locally by an edge computing system. The collection and analysis of sensor data can help to identify areas where performance can be improved and production processes optimized. These and other digital solutions and intelligent, networked systems are offered in collaboration with Retuner.

In addition, the two brands will be showcasing further solutions from their product portfolios in Munich, such as rod ends and spherical plain bearings as well as precision ball screws.
