Integrated sensors
Coupling becomes measuring unit
Under the motto "Experience the future today", R+W is presenting clutches with integrated sensor technology and an innovative type of energy transmission.
In future, in addition to multi-plate and safety couplings, drive shafts and flanges, there will also be bellows couplings with integrated sensors. The difference to the previous series with sensors is the shorter design, for example in the cardan shafts. The only difference in the design of the new bellows couplings is the bore diameter compared to the standard version. In addition to all the features of a standard coupling, the new coupling also serves as a wireless measuring unit.
The integrated sensor technology measures torque, speed, acceleration and optionally also axial forces and lateral forces directly from the rotating drive train. Various options are available for the energy supply. In addition to a solution with a rechargeable battery or induction, there is also a self-sufficient energy supply - energy harvesting. This variant uses the rotational energy in the drivetrain; the sensor system is thus permanently supplied with energy. Energy harvesting is particularly suitable for areas where there should be no downtimes and for hard-to-reach places where power supply is not possible.
