Security for embedded systems

Just in time for the Embedded World trade fair, Swissbit's SD and microSD card series with security functions - PS-45u and PS-450u - received a new addition to the range: the PS-46 is another SD memory card. Security products from Swissbit are used, for example, in tap-proof telephones, industrial/PLC and, most recently, in cash registers - Swissbit presented examples of these and other applications at the embedded world trade fair stand.

The PS-46 is another SD memory card to complement the range.

For example, a GoPro video camera from the consumer sector can be transformed into a tool for copy-protected video documentation using a password-protected SD card from Swissbit, without having to modify the camera. Data of any kind is automatically turned into tamper-proof documentation with the help of secure WORM SD cards or USB sticks.

Swissbit used various single-board computers such as Arduino, ESP32, Wandboard and RaspBerry Pi to demonstrate how efficiently hardware-based security can be used to secure boot processes and user data. This is particularly interesting in light of the fact that the requirements of the GDPR and EU GDPR will be mandatory for system providers from mid-2018. cs
