Diagnostic-capable safety relays
The new safety relays in the KFD2-RSH series from Pepperl+Fuchs offer a diagnostic function, line fault transparency and double redundancy in a 1oo3 architecture (one out of three). The function of the switching contacts is automatically checked during each switching operation. This reduces the effort required for proof tests. The relays are immune to test pulses and are therefore compatible with digital output cards of all commercially available control systems.
The safety relays can also detect short circuits and line breaks on the field side via the digital output card of the control unit and be assigned to a specific signal circuit. No additional wiring is required for this. The single-channel devices are ATEX / IECEx Zone 2 and UL approved and suitable for DTS and ETS applications up to IEC61508 SIL 3, the DTS modules for applications up to EN ISO 13849 PL e.
