The controller is compatible with Ingersoll Rand 's QE Series and QM Series sensor-based assembly tools and collects data to help users optimize production. It stores up to 50,000 cycle data records and 50,000 fastening data records directly on the device.

"The controller is a simple, flexible and powerful solution that delivers operational data to the user faster and more accurately, saving time and money," says Austin Lieb, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Ingersoll Rand Power Tools. "This is exactly in line with our strategy for IIoT-enabled solutions: easy integration into the operating system for actionable insights into manufacturing processes."

Simple setup and implementation

The Insight qc is easy to set up, integrate into mounting operations and connect to multiple devices. It stores fastening data on an internal SSD and can be connected to a network to back up data to a server. Even when disconnected from the network, metrics and analytics are protected and can be reviewed at any time for quality control. The controller saves training time and installation costs with an intuitive touchscreen programming interface and pre-configured protocols. Built-in backup and restore capabilities reduce errors and downtime. With four integrated USB ports, the controller supports up to four plug-and-play accessories or devices such as barcode scanners and socket boxes. The integrated help system's interactive icon opens the digital instruction manual pages related to the controller's active screen, saving operators time and increasing productivity.

Flexible software and control

The web-based software is compatible with smartphones, tablets and other internet-based devices. The controller offers easy integration of additional production lines, integrates programmable controllers and reduces the balancing costs of production lines. The controller's hardware and software can be easily updated to meet potentially more stringent requirements.

The Insight qc's visually displayed integrated diagnostics and statistical process control enable manufacturers to detect fastening errors and maximize productivity. The controller is also equipped with maintenance and configurable e-mail alarms. Additional plug-and-play accessories are available. The barcode scanner allows operators to identify quality defects in specific parts. The socket boxes and bit boxes help to prevent errors in the assembly process.
