ISG component models for accelerated VIBN

ISG Industrielle Steuerungstechnik is presenting two innovations at the SPS. Firstly, the ISG-virtuos simulation platform has been completely revised to cover the entire life cycle of a system.

In addition to end-to-end digital engineering with the simulation model accompanying development in the areas of MiLS, SiLS and HiLS, ISG-virtuos 3 can now also be used upstream in the context of process simulation and after virtual commissioning (VIBN) for training, maintenance, testing and service purposes. At the same time, 3D project planning and the use of ready-made mechatronic simulation and data models shorten modeling times.

Thanks to the expansion of the real-time material flow libraries, the simulation platform will not only be of interest to machine tool and plant manufacturers in the future, but also to users in production automation and intralogistics. Even a fully simulated digital factory can now be realized.

ISG will also be launching the TwinStore at SPS Connect. This enables component and system manufacturers to seamlessly configure the model in ISG-virtuos from ready-made component models according to the customer-specific automation solution. They also have the option of incorporating detailed digital twins directly from the component manufacturer and expert models from simulation specialists.

The integrated certification by ISG and functions for standardization ensure quality. Configurable templates and the ready-made components available in the libraries for robot and gripper systems, drive and conveyor technology as well as sensor tools make modeling fast and user-friendly. TwinStore also allows technology-specific models for third-party process simulations to be incorporated via the ISG-virtuos integration interfaces. This allows the high performance of the ISG-virtuos simulation platform to be combined with the expert knowledge of simulation specialists.

Both the behavioral model and component library as well as the platform library are available in an online platform. New behavioral models for control real time and for modeling in block diagrams are also available, as well as a manufacturer-independent component library for modeling in 3D. In this library, the system simulation can be conveniently configured in 3D using a newly designed, intuitive user interface. ISG also provides an app that allows seamless integration into ISG-virtuos.

ISG-virtuos 3 has further improvements. For example, a new, 3D-based modeling and project planning technology with automated description of the digital twin in the block diagram not only increases usability considerably, but also significantly reduces modeling times. In addition, the new mover technology enables material flow simulation in production automation and is therefore the solution for factory simulation for electric monorail systems and driverless transport systems, for example. Not to forget: By merging the data models of ISG-virtuosM and ISG-virtuosV into a comprehensive component model, project planning times are massively reduced.

ISG-virtuos is suitable for various execution platforms, such as Windows, Beckhoff TwinCAT, B&R and Linux RT. The digital twins can be used throughout the entire life cycle of a system - from quotation preparation to virtual planning and readout, virtual commissioning and use in operator training, maintenance and service.
