Batch size 1 with SuperTrak also for the metal industry

In the metal industry, too, the trend is towards short-term customer orders and small quantities. In order to guarantee individual production down to batch size 1, systems must become more flexible. At EMO, B&R will be exhibiting a track technology that enables flexible, customer-centric production through minimal changeover times and individually controllable shuttles.

The decreasing number of annual orders is being replaced by short-term orders with constantly changing requirements. In order to meet individual customer requirements, a system must be quick and easy to adapt. At EMO, B&R will be presenting the SuperTrak, a track technology that can be easily scaled in one-meter increments. The shuttles can be controlled individually and as required, offering system manufacturers the flexibility they need. The exhibited SuperTrak with ABB robotics demonstrates how subsystems work together smoothly with tracking systems and take over additional production activities.

In order to guarantee individual production, the economic production of small quantities must also be possible. According to B&R, users of track technologies benefit from fast transport speeds and short changeover times. The resulting time savings make economical production up to batch size 1 easy to realize.
