Assembly workstations with cobots

Cobots can support people at assembly workstations and thus help employees to concentrate on the demanding tasks and relieve their physical strain.

With its ergonomically designed, requirement-specific assembly workstations, RK Rose+Krieger offers a modern solution for the economical production of complex products in small quantities with a high degree of variability. Combined with collaborative robots and fully or partially automated removal and loading devices from Mitsubishi Electric as well as linear feeders from the Rose+Krieger portfolio, they relieve employees of physically strenuous or monotonous tasks and at the same time ensure reliable, error-free production.

During assembly at modern workstations, collaborative robots can pass material to the worker or place finished parts in the designated locations. They are also suitable for path-controlled or position-holding tasks that a human cannot perform as precisely, continuously or quickly and safely as a machine. In this way, even critical or dangerous processes such as welding applications can be automated with the help of cobots, thereby eliminating or at least minimizing the risk to the employee.

Additional linear modules from RK Rose+Krieger can supplement the six drive axes of the cobot and increase its range of movement. Lifting columns such as the Powerlift Z, for example, are used to electrically adjust the height of the cobot (Y-axis) and linear units of any length from the RK MonoLine or DuoLine series also move the cobot on the X- and Z-axes. In this way, they link several work or storage stations together.

Rose+Krieger recently began cooperating with Mitsubishi Electric to equip assembly workstations with cobots or poka-yoke systems for process-reliable production. The provider of components and solutions supplies motors, controllers, robots and visualizations for the digitalized assembly workstations. Conversely, Mitsubishi Electric refers its customers to RK Rose+Krieger if they require complete workstation solutions rather than just components.
