3D printing and material knowledge
EnvisionTec and Henkel combine expertise
EnvisionTec and Henkel have announced the expansion of their partnership agreement to further advance the use of 3D printing on an industrial scale.
Over the past two years, the two companies have already collaborated on a number of novel applications. With the introduction of EnvisionTec's next generation Xtreme DLP and One cDLM HT printer technologies and the continued expansion of Henkel 's industrial grade material portfolio, the partners are in a strong position to offer solutions for mass additive manufacturing of final parts.
Both companies are working on printed components for the medical technology and industrial sectors. Henkel's new materials are specifically designed to combine the functionality of FDM processes with the surface finish and precision of SLA/DLP processes using EnvisionTec's high-speed production system, based on an innovative material chemistry of photopolymers.
Together, the partners want to exploit the great potential offered by this novel material know-how to accelerate the use of DLP technology in industrial production. The combination of Henkel's material expertise and EnvisionTec's printer technology enables the production of 3D-printed parts that are durable over a long period of time without losing their mechanical properties, becoming brittle or changing color. At the same time, they retain their precision and a first-class surface finish.
EnvisionTec's patented high temperature (HT) continuous Digital Light Manufacturing (cDLM) technology platform will become part of Henkel's broad 3D printing partner network, making it accessible to its large customer base in more than 800 industry segments. In addition, the partners will also collaborate on new formulations under the Loctite brand that are validated for use on the Xtreme DLP. This new large-format 3D printer enables the production of large 3D parts at high speeds without sacrificing surface finish and precision.
This means that the DLP technology invented and commercialized by EnvisionTec can now be used in the industrial production of final parts through the use of large-format EnvisionTec printers and photopolymer materials from Henkel.
