Ultra-flat backlight

Perfect lighting simplifies the use of vision sensors in many applications.

When capturing contours, the background often has to be illuminated. The highest possible homogeneity and yet a flat design are essential requirements. With the new lighting elements, ifm offers the optimum solution for this.

Vision sensors for contour and position detection benefit from good backlighting. This strongly emphasizes the outer contours and thus ensures optimum, shadow-free illumination of the object to be inspected. This results in shorter exposure times for the vision sensors and at the same time reduces the influence of extraneous light. As a result, detection can work very quickly and reliably. The powerful lighting elements from ifm, which generate a very homogeneous light field, can operate in continuous or pulsed mode. Among other advantages, this extends the service life of the lighting unit.

Three light field sizes

The new lighting elements can be mounted in a very space-saving way thanks to their extremely flat design with an overall height of just 9.8 mm. Mounting sets available as accessories ensure quick and easy mounting. The backlights are available with either red or infrared light. There is a choice of three different light field sizes of 25 x 25 mm, 50 x 50 mm or 100 x 100 mm. The electrical connection is made via an industrial-grade M12 connector.
