automatica 2023
Image processing for accelerated production
At automatica 2023 in Munich from June 27 to 30, 2023, Cognex will present its current product portfolio for the automation of simple to complex applications in the fields of defect and assembly inspection, classification, measurement, robotics, code identification and plain text.
Among other things, Cogney will be showing its latest In-Sight vision systems. In-Sight 2800 is designed for simple inspections with AI-based edge learning technology, which allows automatic defect detection without programming knowledge. With these systems, OCR tasks for reading characters, for example, can be developed and put into operation very quickly and easily using example-based training. Even on reflective, low-contrast and uneven surfaces, the In-Sight 2800 reliably deciphers plain text and other characters.
With the In-Sight 3800 vision system, Cognex has recently developed an all-in-one vision system that combines speed, high resolution and flexibility. In-Sight 3800 systems are therefore among the highlights of Cognex's presence at this year's automatica trade fair. These vision systems are designed for high-speed production lines and include a comprehensive range of vision tools that include both artificial intelligence-based edge learning technology and traditional rule-based algorithms. This gives Cognex users the best of both worlds in one product: The user-friendly edge learning tools solve tasks with high variability and are set up with a small number of training images within a very short time. The industry-proven rule-based tools, on the other hand, are well suited to solving deterministic tasks with specific parameters. On this basis, fully integrated solutions can be implemented for a wide range of testing applications.
In the area of identification, Cognex will showcase the DataMan 8700, a rugged handheld reader that can be used in harsh environments and withstand exposure to oil, dirt and water. The DataMan 8700 can be operated with or without a cable and decodes even the most difficult direct part mark (DPM) and label codes to enable simple solutions for track-and-trace applications in the automotive, medical device, electronics, aviation and other industries.
The fixed-mount barcode readers in the DataMan 280 series are also suitable for use in applications for reading demanding 1D, 2D and DPM codes in manufacturing and logistics and enable reliable decoding of barcodes. Thanks to the modular hardware with interchangeable lighting and lenses as well as powerful software algorithms, these products can be adapted to the respective application.
The inline barcode verifiers in the DataMan 475V series classify up to 20 codes per second. These products make it possible to evaluate code quality in accordance with ISO standards directly on production lines, even at high speed. Accurate verification and quality reporting via DataMan 475V devices prevents unnecessary product waste and enables immediate detection and correction of printing and process control problems.
