B1 BlackLine" robot
Powerful robot for even more shoes
From warehousing, picking and shipping to returns management: as a full-service provider, TCL Consulting handles fulfillment for B2C e-commerce customers. The company has optimized order processing with a fully automated AutoStore solution and B1 BlackLine robots.
TCL Consulting is primarily concerned with the handling of products from the world of fashion. This includes bags and clothing as well as a wide range of accessories - but the focus is on shoes. What end consumers order from the online stores of the retailer Schuhe Lüke, for example, is picked from TCL Consulting's warehouse stocks and delivered as quickly as possible. Storing tens of thousands of shoe boxes in conventional shelving racks and picking individual orders has repeatedly presented TCL Consulting with major challenges in the past. Although the fully automated AutoStore small parts warehouse had long been a suitable solution in principle, the standard storage containers used in classic AutoStore systems offered too little space with external heights of 220 or 330 millimetres and internal dimensions of 403 by 603 millimetres. This is because shoe boxes are always labeled on the narrow side - so it only makes sense to store them upright in an AutoStore system so that the retrieved items can be easily scanned before they are removed.
The handling of higher standard containers required the development of a new robot series; the R5 RedLine devices previously used were not designed for the new requirements. Both 425-millimeter containers and more powerful robots are now available: The new B1 BlackLine robots achieve a higher speed of four meters per second as well as higher acceleration. The system comprises a total of 14 levels on a footprint of 24 by 17 meters and reaches a total height of a good eight meters. At the top of the system - the so-called grid - eight B1 BlackLine robots take over the fully automated storage and retrieval of the containers. pb
