Greater vertical integration makes sense
Lean Management. Professor Markus Schneider is a specialist in lean management and intralogistics. We asked him about the necessary consequences for production in light of the coronavirus crisis.

Commentary by Prof. Dr. Markus Schneider
In times of crisis, lean management approaches are once again gaining in importance. This is because medium-sized manufacturing companies in particular can use lean measures to reduce their costs comparatively quickly and secure liquidity, thereby effectively countering the economic impact of crises.
Value stream-based optimization
According to studies, around 20 percent of process costs can be influenced during ongoing production operations. Ideally, optimization should start in the planning phase. This potential is insufficiently exploited, especially in medium-sized companies.
Thanks to its close cooperation with Landshut University of Applied Sciences and the Puls Technology Center in Dingolfing, Pull Beratung has access to the latest methods of production and logistics planning, including a modern learning and model factory.
The digitalization of logistics opens up new possibilities for increasing efficiency in production and thus offers an entry into Industry 4.0.

As part of the "Coscom Campus", Coscom is adding a new series of seminars to its program. The main topics are digitization, networking and visualization. Current possibilities and scenarios are discussed here in order to supply the different systems in production with standardized data and to create a common production and tool data basis.
