Accordingly, the program aims to support abrasives manufacturers on their path to greater sustainability and responsible growth, primarily in the areas of production and distribution. Ultimately, the participating companies should gain a business opportunity and a competitive advantage by committing to greater sustainability.

Establishing sustainability standards

Large, medium and small abrasives manufacturers, suppliers and distributors have joined SEAM to set a European sustainability standard to find the right balance between environmental efficiency, production performance and occupational safety. This common goal and set of values helps European companies to achieve a strong position in the world.

To achieve this, SEAM member factories must fulfill a series of minimum requirements, which are divided into three basic pillars: Environment, Labor and Economy. Within the three pillars, several derived objectives such as energy management, employee safety and business continuity must be met.
