Special award in the competition
German Sustainability Award seeks packaging ideas
With the German Sustainability Award Packaging, the German Sustainability Award Foundation, in cooperation with Rewe, is presenting a special award for the second time to recognize more environmentally friendly packaging solutions.
"Germany is still the country in Europe that produces the most packaging waste," says Stefan Schulze-Hausmann, initiator of the German Sustainability Award. "If we want to protect the environment and conserve resources, waste must be avoided right from the production phase. The special award is intended to show more sustainable examples of best practice."
The Special Packaging Award honors exemplary ideas for the packaging of tomorrow that avoid or reduce waste, are affordable for the mass market and meet the requirements of transport safety, hygiene, information and convenience. German product or packaging manufacturers, research institutions, start-ups and packaging designers are invited to participate until June 8, 2020. Participants present their solution for more sustainable packaging using an online questionnaire.
The expert jury of the German Sustainability Award will decide on the finalists and the winner in September. Appointed by the German Sustainability Award Foundation, the panel brings perspectives from business, research, civil society and politics into the decision-making process. The winner will be announced at the German Sustainability Award ceremony on December 4, 2020 in Düsseldorf. as
