New features in Solidworks 2021
Solidworks 2021 is here and brings with it some changes that may be worthwhile for users.
Dassault Systèmes is launching Solidworks 2021, a new version of its 3D design and engineering software. The really big leaps in CAD programs are no longer to be expected, but the innovations in Solidworks 2021 are impressive, as they address the needs of the user.
Last year, during 3DExperience World 2020, the company asked its Solidworks community for their wishes and incorporated the ten most important suggestions into the current version. These include further developments in the design of parts and assemblies, faster installation of software components, drawings, graphics and data management to speed up file operations and workflows. For example, the command to restore models goes back further in many areas. In addition, the new view mode from Solidworks 2020 is now switched on by default. This makes better use of the graphics card and enables 500 rotations of a complex model in just under 8 seconds.
One of the biggest innovations, however, is that Solidworks 2021 users can now connect to 3DExperience Works. This special edition is available in three packages, each of which corresponds to the desktop versions and enables Solidworks users to use additional cloud services from the 3DExperience platform. This "connected" version of Solidworks comes with integrated data management and prevents working with outdated files or losing data. Software and data are automatically updated in the cloud. This has the advantage that all users use a standardized version and can access the extended applications of the 3DExperience Works portfolio.
