Andreas Mühlbauer,

Extensive upgrade from Abas

With Abas ERP 20, the Karlsruhe-based software manufacturer is presenting the most comprehensive upgrade to date, while the customer-specific adaptations remain in place.

The new release focuses on more process reliability with sharpened guard rails, offers new dashboard technology and integrates previously chargeable add-ons into a complete ERP package, but is still highly customizable.

With the new "Abas ERP 20" release, Abas Software is not only expanding the functional scope of the business software for its more than 120,000 users, which is used in particular in SMEs and manufacturing. The focus of the new version is on increasing process reliability while at the same time maximizing flexibility in order to adapt processes to individual company requirements.

In addition, 13 functions that were previously at extra cost are now included in the standard scope of delivery: Examples include the mobile applications Warehouse for warehouse management or Shopfloor for production data acquisition (PDA). The bundle now also includes "Electronic invoice dispatch" - optionally in the now supported ZUGFeRD 2.1 e-invoice format, which enables invoices to be automatically transferred to the document management system. Or the "abas Dashboard" technology, which, in addition to preconfigured standard overviews and cockpits, offers creation according to individual requirements in the Dashboard Editor - without any programming.

A highlight of the upgrades is that all customer-specific adaptations are retained during the update. This is not the case with most ERP manufacturers. With Abas, the individual programming does not have to be carried out again after the update.

For the upgrade, Abas has defined new standard processes, expanded plausibility checks and sharpened existing process guidelines. Seven new process types were developed for this purpose, which now ensure maximum clarity. They are easy to use, reduce the possibility of incorrect entries and simplify day-to-day business in purchasing, sales, service, warehousing, production and financial accounting. Not only do users benefit from greater relief in their day-to-day business, but Abas ERP 20 also prevents incorrect entries in the ERP system and the resulting errors with regard to stocks, warehouse values and calculations.

The new release offers users a self-service tool to create their own information cockpits and design them specifically according to the requirements of individual departments, users or purposes. Data and key figures can be prepared graphically using various widgets and supplemented with external information. Abas ERP 20 already includes 20 standard dashboards, for example a production overview or process chain. Users can configure their own dashboards in the Dashboard Editor.

The new license server ensures fully automated licensing of all components of the ERP installation and automatically updates them to the latest versions. Another new feature in this context is the integration of the Identity and Access Management component Keycloak in abas ERP, a single sign-on solution that enables secure authentication and thus the transfer of the ERP login to all linked components. The user can, for example, automatically log into abas ERP at his workstation via the Windows logon.
