Real-time overview of tools
Digital tool management celebrates its premiere
The Hoffmann Group has been committed to developing digital products for some time now. At EMO 2019, it is now presenting its new "Hoffmann Group Tool Management" for the first time. With the help of this software solution, small and medium-sized companies can manage their tools more efficiently and plan their use optimally.
Hoffmann Group Tool Management provides a comprehensive overview of all tools and their digital twins in real time - from project planning in the CAM system to the presetter and the machine. In addition to the master data, movement data such as the storage or usage location and presetting values are also recorded and constantly updated. Based on this information, it is possible to always provide the right tool in the right place and thus reduce rejects, rework or machine downtime. A clear and intuitive user interface enables users to operate the solution via a standard Internet browser within a short time, even without training.
The implementation of Hoffmann 's tool management system is extremely simple: First, all tools are fitted with RFID chips and the chip numbers are recorded and linked in the central tool database with additional information such as data sheets and setup plans. The data then moves with the tools and is continuously updated. If, for example, a tool is preset, the system automatically saves the measured values. This creates a broad information base and a solid foundation for optimizing the use of tools and reducing the error rate when configuring modular tools and setting up machines. The consistent monitoring of individual tools in real time provides a view of the entire tool life cycle and makes it easier to estimate tool requirements, for example. Hoffmann Group Tool Management thus makes an important contribution to improving the organization, planning and control of the entire production process.

Von der digitalen in die physische Welt
Hoffmann stellt seinen EMO-Messeauftritt unter das Motto „From Concept to Reality“ und zeigt, wie das Unternehmen den gesamten Produktionsprozess mit physischen und digitalen Produkten begleitet.
The current version of the software includes interfaces to the following systems: Heidenhain TNC426 iTNC530 and TNC640 machine cutting controls and Siemens 840 D, Garant VG1 and Zoller presetters, CAD/CAM software from Tebis, Mastercam and SolidCAM, Garant Tool24 automatic tool dispensers. The latter makes it possible to automate tool dispensing, precisely control the removal of tools and automatically trigger reordering when required. This allows the supply of tools to be efficiently organized, managed and secured.
Hoffmann Group Tool Management will be available in Germany from January 2020 and will be rolled out gradually in other countries.
