In VSM, all value-adding and non-value-adding activities are calculated and visualized transparently. The tool takes care of data collection, value stream visualization and value stream analysis from the actual to the target state. Up-to-date and consistent key figures quickly ensure a sustainable basis for decision-making in store floor management.

Digital support for collaboration

Thanks to paperless value streams and the multi-touch function, optimization activities are visible with just one gesture. Information is transmitted directly to the person responsible in VSM. This shortens decision-making paths and enables rapid implementation. The VSM reduces the susceptibility to errors in manual processes and makes it easier to trace the causes in the event of a deviation from the plan.

More transparency and efficiency in daily operations

Larger value streams can be divided into specific, individually defined areas in VSM using the grouping function. The result: greater clarity and transparency in the work processes. Particular advantages lie in the decoupling of value streams, the resulting reduction in complexity and the efficient planning of materials and personnel. Delays in delivery and material waste within production can be avoided, as can bottlenecks, system breaks or oversized stocks.

With mapping, design and visualization for optimization

Designed in line with the lean philosophy, the VSM helps to improve the production process. Optimization takes place in three steps:

• In digital mapping, the value stream is recorded live on the store floor by the employee using the app. The throughput times are automatically calculated and displayed using stored formulas.
• The design ensures transparency: possible optimization statuses can be compared here, allowing the target status to be reached quickly.
• In the improvement tool, Kaizen flashes can be defined in individual cases in order to quickly analyze faults and generate effective solutions. The KPIs are displayed as bars or radar charts. The library is based on existing symbols of the process, material and information flow.

Installation

The user-oriented interface of the ActiveCockpit software enables mobile and parallel working for all project participants thanks to location-independent data access. The ValueStreamManager app is installed once on the ActiveCockpit via the admin menu. The web-based app uses browser technology for integration and can be used entirely as a cloud service. The user language of VSM is German or English.
