Work clothes
Employer branding in production
Diamant is Germany's oldest bicycle brand - the manufacturer from near Chemnitz has been around since 1885. Up to 1,500 bicycles and e-bikes are handmade there every day. Efficient workflows and good communication play an important role in the production processes. Those responsible also make targeted use of work clothing as a success factor.
A good working atmosphere and collegial cooperation are required and encouraged at Diamant - as are flat hierarchies. Every employee should be able to be assigned to colleagues from other departments at any time. Work clothing can be an important factor here. Whether in the assembly, logistics or quality team - around 450 employees wear workwear on a daily basis. Diamant attaches great importance to ensuring that this is not a burden for the workforce and that they can focus entirely on their work.
As a service provider, CWS Workwear has been supplying the bicycle manufacturer with workwear for over 10 years. To ensure that each team in the large production hall is clearly recognizable, the employees in the individual departments were given polo shirts or T-shirts in a special color. Managers and trainees are also assigned one of the seven colors. "Each shirt bears our Diamant logo and the employee name so that you can always address each colleague directly in person," says Christin Seifert, Team Leader Recruiting at Diamant Fahrradwerke.
The individualized workwear also supports team cohesion and identification with the employer. The branded and individualized shirts strengthen the sense of togetherness among the employees from 20 nations, while at the same time relieving them of the burden of providing their workwear. This is because they do not have to worry about providing and caring for the clothing - the service provider CWS takes care of this. This service for employees also goes down well in job interviews. "It shows appreciation for our employees to make their work as easy as possible, which also includes dealing with work clothing," says Seifert.
Relief through service
To keep all processes as regulated and simple as possible, CWS has installed locker systems in the company's changing rooms. All employees have their own locker where they can find fresh workwear. These are washed by CWS Workwear and delivered to the locker compartment by a service driver. Thanks to targeted and resource-saving washing processes in the laundries, the durable CWS clothing lasts longer than conventional workwear and needs to be replaced less frequently. If the clothing is worn out when it arrives at the CWS laundry, it is replaced with new clothing. With the Repair App, employees can also send a repair request to CWS by cell phone, for example for loose buttons.
Whether for new employees or staff turnover, those responsible at Diamant can add or cancel required parts at any time to ensure that all employees are always optimally equipped. "I can always adjust the quantity conveniently via the CWS customer portal and this is implemented quickly," explains Seifert.
"With CWS Workwear, we have a partner we can rely on. The service of having the workwear washed and delivered is very well received by our colleagues," says Seifert, explaining the decision to outsource the textile laundry supply. A personal CWS contact person is always on hand to advise her and deal with any concerns.
