Pressure transmitter
Easy to operate with Bluetooth interface
Endress+Hauser is relaunching the Cerabar and Deltabar pressure measuring devices. Thanks to the added Bluetooth interface, they are easier to operate and more efficient to maintain in protective devices.
Heartbeat technology also creates the basis for predictive maintenance and allows the device function to be verified without interrupting the process. The Namur roadmap "Process Sensors 4.0" lists three key criteria for digital process sensors: wireless communication options, sensor diagnostics and the provision of information about the sensor and process. With the optional Bluetooth and Heartbeat Technology functions, the new Cerabar and Deltabar product lines meet these criteria.
More productive thanks to digitally optimized processes
There are various reasons why ease of use is a major advantage. Many industries are struggling with a shortage of qualified personnel. Here, any simplification such as intuitive operation or guided operating sequences and any time savings help to meet the productivity and safety requirements in the operational process. In addition, service providers are often involved in major plant overhauls, whose personnel are not exactly familiar with the plants and systems on site.
To meet the practical requirements, Endress+Hauser has trimmed the new generation of Cerabar and Deltabar printing lines for simplicity. For example, document management has been simplified and documents can be accessed via a QR code on each nameplate. Serial number-specific documents can be downloaded in seconds. Another example of simplification is the intuitive operation with the SmartBlue app and a mobile device of choice. Parameterizing the pressure transducer using guided operating sequences speeds up the commissioning process.
This is made possible by an additional Bluetooth interface that bridges distances of up to 25 meters. This means that even hard-to-reach measuring points or those in danger zones are easy to maintain. Even if they are only integrated into the process via a 4...20 mA signal. The housing does not need to be unscrewed or connected to a cable during operation. Real-time data from the pressure transmitter is available at all times.
Heartbeat Technology also supports maintenance staff in verifying their measuring points. This can also be done via the Bluetooth connection at the touch of a button in the SmartBlue app. Verification can be completed in less than three minutes. The process does not need to be interrupted. A verification log is created automatically and can be saved directly, making it easy to provide proof of device conformity. Verification is based on the continuous self-diagnostic function of the pressure transmitter. It achieves a diagnostic coverage of over 95 percent. With this information, it is possible to plan system revisions and maintenance work for measuring devices in advance and reduce downtimes. Heartbeat Technology creates scope for users to optimize their production processes by providing data-based insights into the process.
Process safety in the chemical industry
New digital assistants support users during commissioning, including the interlocking of SIL measuring points, as well as during recurring tests in accordance with SIL. These show step by step what needs to be done. This prevents systematic errors during operation and increases safety. At the same time, the work can be completed more quickly overall, for example by directly generating PDF reports. An integrated checksum (CRC) gives the user additional certainty. Every change to a security-relevant parameter also results in a change to the checksum. With a before/after comparison, changes to the pressure transmitter are recognized immediately. The renewed development of pressure transmitters in accordance with IEC61508 for SIL2/3 applications underlines the consistent safety concept.
Safety at a glance is also provided by the new color display, optionally with operating buttons. It changes from green to red in the event of a fault and provides a quick overview. The operating buttons work through the viewing window thanks to optical sensors. There is no need to unscrew the housing cover, which prevents moisture and dirt from entering the housing.
The Cerabar and Deltabar devices feature proven, reliable and robust sensor technology and a smart safety concept. The following applies to the new pressure measurement technology: self-explanatory and efficient operating concepts prevent systematic errors during device parameterization, maintain the high safety level of the system and at the same time reduce maintenance costs.
