More transparency for transport damage
Transport monitoring with data loggers: At Sensor+Test, the Karlsruhe-based sensor manufacturer Aspion is presenting its G-Log system, which provides a differentiated view of the circumstances during transportation.
The system is primarily used by manufacturers of sensitive machinery and equipment. The central element and this year's highlight is the new multifunctional data logger G-Log 2, which provides precise information on shocks, temperature and humidity during multimodal transportation, often lasting weeks, and communicates wirelessly with software and smartphone apps via NFC and BLE.
"The new generation of our data logger records events that normally remain hidden and thus provides reliable facts for a possible dispute between the shipper, transport company and insurers," explains Martina Wöhr, Co-Managing Director of Aspion, adding: "Our customers report that the use of the data logger also leads to more conscious handling of the freight and thus to a reduction in damage incidents."
Safety in the event of impact and climatic conditions
The shipper sets the permissible threshold values for acceleration, temperature and humidity individually for their products. If they are exceeded en route, the shock sensor records shocks in six directions with up to ± 24 g per axis, highest shocks even down to millisecond level, as well as temperature and humidity values and stores up to 950 events.
Each sensor has a unique ID. With the G-Log Manager PC software included in the scope of delivery, the user monitors, parameterizes and reads out the sensors in circulation. Data is exchanged wirelessly via Near Field Communication (NFC) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). A very useful feature is the ability to read out the sensor values at any location using a smartphone app and send them to the control center by email. This provides clarity about incidents even before reaching the destination.

Shock details in milliseconds for traceability
The robust and affordable G-Log 2 data logger is durable and can be used again and again. The battery lasts up to one and a half years from activation and is easy to replace by the user. The sensors can be used for all types of transportation, including air freight. "The special feature of our sensors is the shock logging with a breakdown at millisecond level for the highest shocks, which show the exact course of events in the event of damage," says the Managing Director.
The G-Log Manager prepares the sensor data in a user-friendly way. The reports contain all the important facts for the shipper, carrier, customer and transport insurer. Packaging designers also benefit from the recordings. The optional G-Log Premium software expands the scope of the shock sensors to include cloud transmission, location information and network functionalities. This means that the sensor data is available to all users of a company network in the globalized movement of goods. as
