At 40 by ten by ten millimetres, the sensor head of the series is very small and compact. The height of the sensors has been reduced by more than half compared to the previous models. The LEC sensors are now about as flat as a smartphone, yet all the electronics are housed in the sensor housing. The sensors also have a thin, drag-chain-compatible Highflex cable with a maximum outer diameter of 4.3 millimetres. Despite the small design, two LEDs for visual function and status monitoring and a reference option are integrated.

The sensors are available with either an analog interface (1Vss) or a digital interface (LD). The user can also choose between the accuracy classes plus/minus eight micrometers (LEC100) and plus/minus 15 micrometers (LEC200). The repeatability is a maximum of one (LEC100) or two micrometers (LEC200), the resolution is 0.1 (LEC100) or 0.2 micrometers (LEC200). With a protection class of IP60 and a wide temperature range of minus 40 to plus 85 degrees Celsius, the sensors are robust and resistant. as
