Controller regulates with AI

Omron has presented its E5-D series. The new generation of controllers is designed to achieve optimum and automatic temperature control without operator intervention. All typical settings that previously had to be made by experts on site are to be automated using artificial intelligence (AI).

With conventional temperature controllers, determining the PID values prior to commissioning is a lengthy process. In addition, it is difficult to make the optimum settings without many years of experience. This is why Omron has developed the E5-D series with "adaptive control technology". It automatically detects changes in the control process and adjusts the PID values. According to the company, the result is a perfectly tuned PID algorithm and highly stable temperature control.

The E5-D series is based on the E5-C platform, so the basic features are identical, but what is new is the extendable design, which simplifies maintenance. The series is available in two sizes: E5CD with 48 by 48 millimeters and E5ED with 48 by 96 millimeters. Both versions can measure various signal types from different sensors; depending on the model, the control outputs are designed as relay outputs (five amps/250 volts AC) or voltage outputs (twelve volts DC for controlling external solid state relays). as
