It offers up to 16 safety functions, including for the highest level SIL3/PLe, of which up to ten can be activated simultaneously. This makes it possible to implement even the most demanding safety applications, as required by an increasingly flexible automated production environment.

With the current expansion, the option module is available in two versions, ensuring a particularly high degree of flexibility: In addition to the version with FSoE communication and 14 safety functions, the module is also available in a version with 16 safety functions and additional inputs or outputs. This enables direct activation and deactivation of the safety functions without a safety controller. This results in cost benefits, particularly for smaller systems. Of course, this version also has an FSoE interface.

High-resolution encoders with a resolution of 24 bits guarantee precise control and short settling times in the range of a few milliseconds. This makes the servo drives in the Sigma-7 series suitable for the most demanding positioning tasks. Vibrations during operation can be automatically suppressed, which significantly improves production processes and product quality and increases machine output. The Sigma-7 servo systems are designed for a long service life and operate at ambient temperatures between 0 and 55 °C without additional cooling.

Sophisticated algorithms in the amplifier software make commissioning easier: the "tuning-less" function, for example, automatically adapts the controller parameters to changing load cases, allowing the drive to be used immediately "out-of-the-box". Alternatively, the "auto-tuning" function enables quick adaptation to the machine without any special control knowledge if the requirements remain the same. With the new safety modules, the Sigma-7 series drives can easily and safely demonstrate their full performance in a wide range of applications.
