Users of the freely available tool receive a selection of variants from the PSENopt and PSENopt II product family of mushroom safety light grids. This saves time, as the search for the right light grid is shorter thanks to the tool. The distance calculation via the Calculator brings advantages for industrial areas where the safety distance has to be recalculated frequently.

Users can access the tool online via the Pilz website. The intuitive Safety Distance Calculator provides additional information on the individual steps of the calculation, for example when calculating the minimum distance. The Calculator can be used to calculate applications for vertical protective fields (orthogonal approach) for finger, hand and body protection. Based on the required safety level, users receive a suitable product suggestion for their respective application, which is designed in accordance with either ISO 13849 or IEC 62061. Integrated info points with in-depth explanations also support the search. A graphical representation illustrates the calculation so that it is easy to understand. Users benefit from flexible options for retrofitting their system. A German and an English language version of the calculation tool are available.

Light grids for all requirements

Pilz light curtains are available in different versions: With a mechanical load capacity of up to 50 g and therefore high availability, the shock-resistant PSENopt II light curtains are preferably used in harsh environments where vibration or collision are prevalent, for example in packaging machines. According to Pilz, the PSENopt II light curtain type 3 is the only manufacturer to offer a cost-effective safety solution specially designed for applications up to PL d in accordance with IEC 61496. Type 4 PSENopt II light curtains are also available for applications up to PL e in accordance with IEC 61496, which meet the highest requirements for finger, hand and body protection and are available in lengths from 150 to 1,800 millimetres. For space-critical areas on machines with cyclical access, users can opt for the PSENopt slim light curtains.
